Our Beginning

Best Friends of Baker, Inc. was founded in 1988 after three friends rescued a pregnant, neglected mutt in rural eastern Oregon. After receiving some much needed care, “Lucky” was placed in a loving forever home and her success story provided the inspiration for the establishment of a rescue with 501(c)3 status.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.”

— ANATOLE FRANCE
